About Ammar Analytics
I build the reporting that executives actually open
Most BI projects die the same way. Someone builds a beautiful dashboard. It's technically correct. Nobody uses it, because it answers questions nobody was asking, and the numbers don't reconcile with what the finance team already has in Excel.
I've spent my career learning why that happens and how to prevent it. The method is unglamorous: verify before you build. Understand what decision the report is supposed to change. Reconcile every figure against the source system before anyone sees a chart. Then, and only then, design.
That's it. That's why my dashboards get used.
Where I work now
I'm embedded as a BI Engineer at Foxtons, London's largest estate agency, reporting to the Head of Business Analytics and working across the organisation's two highest revenue departments.
Marketing Analytics. A 12 dashboard suite spanning Direct Mail, Aggregators, Website, and a Marketing Overview. It tracks 40+ KPIs including conversion rates across Rightmove, Zoopla, and OnTheMarket, Letters per Valuation Booked, and Paid Search against Organic performance across 7 divisions. It replaced fragmented manual reporting that nobody trusted.
Property Services. A second 12 dashboard suite measuring Move Consultant productivity across teams, divisions, weeks, and days. Outbound call activity, Valuations Booked, lead quality, instruction conversion, all with year on year benchmarking. Senior management can now see field performance in real time and intervene on an underperforming team the same week rather than the next quarter.
The infrastructure underneath. Automated SQL pipelines cut weekly and monthly report turnaround by 80 percent. Scheduled Power BI dataset refreshes keep everything live. Row Level Security enforces division and role based access. Every .pbip file is version controlled in Azure DevOps. The reporting is secure, auditable, and self service. No analyst sits in the middle of it.
That environment is the reason I'm useful to you. When a number is wrong at Foxtons, a C level executive notices within the hour. I've been on the hook for accuracy at that level, not just aesthetics.
Selected work
IKEA (via Flow). Four end to end Power BI proofs of concept. Requirements, data modelling, dashboard design, and the final stakeholder presentation.
PowerTrack Africa. Lead BI Engineer. Three dashboards delivered end to end, from requirements through to stakeholder ready handover.
US healthcare startup. Built the entire analytics function on AWS QuickSight. Patient flow, revenue by service, doctor rebooking rates, hospital reputation, staff performance. They went from no visibility to a leadership view.
US advertising startup. Worked directly with the CTO to stand up Power BI reporting across Marketing Performance, Traffic and Conversions, and Profit and Loss.
Austrian enterprise client. Full ownership from requirements to delivery. Power BI with SharePoint integration and Microsoft Teams embedding, so reporting lived where the team already worked.
VentureDive, internal CRM and Finance. Rebuilt internal reporting and removed 60 percent of the manual work in the CRM process. Presented the finance work directly to the executive team, which changed how resources were allocated the following quarter.
Zyne Ventures. Migrated 50 million records. Rebuilt the Python and SQL pipelines and orchestrated them in Airflow. Automated roughly 70 percent of the analytics team's repetitive work at no additional tooling cost.
How I work
Diagnose. The first conversation is about decisions, not data. What are you arguing about in meetings? What gets rebuilt by hand every week? What number does nobody trust?
Verify. Before I build anything, I reconcile your figures against your source systems. Almost every engagement surfaces at least one discrepancy nobody knew existed. This step is where trust gets earned, and it's the step most people skip.
Build. Power BI, with a proper semantic model underneath so the report doesn't collapse the first time someone asks a question you didn't anticipate. Row Level Security, scheduled refresh, version control, documentation.
Hand over. Data dictionary, refresh schedule, and a walkthrough so your team owns it. I don't build dependency.
The stack
Power BI at the core: DAX, Power Query, Row Level Security, scheduled refresh, semantic modelling. Underneath it, SQL Server, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Python, and Apache Airflow. Tableau, AWS QuickSight, and Looker Studio when a client already lives there.
Microsoft Certified Power BI Data Analyst (PL 300). Certified Data Engineer, Karachi.AI. BS Computer Science from FAST NUCES, two time Dean's List. MS Computer Science in progress at IBA. IELTS Academic, 8.0.
Let's find out whether this fits
Book a 20 minute call. I'll ask what decision you're trying to make and tell you honestly whether I'm the right person to help. If I'm not, I'll say so, and I'll usually know who is.
